Petroleum Extraction Technology

As the life blood of machinery, oil keeps the world running. However,as a non-renewable resource, oil supplies are being consumed at a much higher rate than the earth can replenish. As the population expands exponentially, so too does the demand for patroleum. To complicate matters, the amount of retrievable oil available on the planet cannot be accurately determined due the constraints of modern technology and the unaudited claims by host nations and commercial coorporations that may exaggerate numbers for political power or financial gain.

Currently, only a small fraction of oil can be brought to the surface and is usable due to the limits of petroleum extraction technologies. Will new methods develop to extract and refine oil? Where is the next payload of "easy" oil and will it be enough to sustain the world before the eventual, but certain shift toward a new source of fuel? Who is gaining while who stands to lose?

  2. I created and posted this mix not realizing the severity of the situation in the Gulf. So the theory behind this mix was not made with the present emergency in mind...
